Dress and Bless
The community ministry, Dress and Bless, provides new school uniforms for children in the immediate neighborhood of First Baptist Church. Wearing new school clothes on the first day of school can give these children a much-needed sense of excitement and self-confidence.
Each August, church members have the opportunity to purchase uniforms for a specific child. They are also asked to commit to pray for that child by name throughout the year. Each child receives a card telling them that they are being prayed for by the donor.
Volunteers are needed for this ministry in the areas of publicity, sign-ups, organizing donations and assisting with the purchase of new uniforms. Those unable to shop for a child may make a monetary donation directly through the church (Matthew 25:37-40).
2018 Dress and Bless Sign-Up Information
BLESS A CHILD and BE BLESSED! Choose the name of a child and buy that child two new school uniforms. First names, sizes and specific shopping information will be available July 22nd and 29th and August 5th at the Dress & Bless table in the foyer. Your gift of clothing must be returned to the church by Sunday, August 12th so the child will have new clothes for the first day of school. The cost will be $35-$75, depending on sizes. It is also important that you pray for that child during the school year. If you are not able to shop but wish to participate, you may designate a monetary gift to the project and someone will shop for you.
